Tracking the Progress of Your Strategic Plan

Accrediting bodies are increasingly focused on the degree to which institutions of higher education are implementing and following their strategic plans but developing relevant key performance indicators (KPI) is a challenge. A criteria-driven process for identifying measurable and effective KPIs will be presented. We also will discuss how to deal with poorly-worded strategic goals. The final key aspect is the documentation of the use of these KPIs in decision making and their periodic review. A framework for operationalizing the periodic review of the strategic goals and their KPIs will be presented as well as a worksheet approach for documenting the use of the goals in decision making. Employing an approach like this will better prepare your institution for its next Self Study.

As a result of this webinar, participants will:

  • Define and track the most relevant and effective KPIs for their institution’s strategic plan
  • Develop and implement a framework at their institutions to monitor and report out on those KPIs over time
  • Develop a plan for periodic assessment of KPIs and their use in decision making
