A First Look at Design Thinking

Have you wondered what exactly design thinking is, and how it might be useful to you? Design thinking’s focus on empathy and inviting stakeholders into the process has made it a popular technique for problem-solving outside of the realm of traditional design. Problems are tackled deliberately, in a step-by-step manner that reveals the creativity in everyone.

Participants in this interactive session will gain an introductory understanding of design thinking and see how it is used at Boston College. After learning about the types of challenges design thinking is best suited to tackle, you will be challenged to think of situations you might be able to use design thinking at your institution.

This session is for anyone interested in learning more about design thinking, or anyone searching for new methods of collaboratively solving university problems.

As a result of this webinar, participants will:

  • Gain an understanding of what design thinking is and what a design thinking process might look like.
  • Learn what makes a good design thinking challenge and what some of the benefits and challenges of design thinking are.
  • Connect design thinking directly to their work by developing a design thinking challenge for their office.
