The Art and Science of Enrollment Forecasting

This two-part webinar introduces participants to an enrollment forecasting model that has been successfully used at a large public comprehensive university for nearly 20 years. Adaptable to institutions of any size, the model relies on historical data and sound reasoning to forecast student progression toward graduation. Participants will explore the model’s logic, gain insights on adapting it to their own contexts, and learn strategies for effectively communicating forecasting results to institutional stakeholders. Examples include how the model was adjusted during the COVID-19 pandemic to reflect evolving student patterns.

  • Identify guidelines to consider when implementing an enrollment forecasting model.
  • Explain the logic behind the forecasting model employed by the presenter’s institution.
  • Adapt the forecasting model to meet their own institution’s needs.
  • Communicate forecasting information effectively to institutional stakeholders.
