Data Transformation and Reproducible Analysis in R

More institutions of higher education are embracing a data-informed culture and generating high demand for both IT and IR resources. However, data rarely comes in a shape and format that is analysis ready and, due to the nature of cyclical reporting, researchers find themselves spending timecleaning, wrangling and reshaping data only to do it all again next year.

In this 2-part webinar series you will be introduced to a set of tools and capabilities in R that can help speed up data preparations, providing a great alternative to traditional SQL and Excel methods. Through a series of guided exercises participants will learn how to select, filter, sort, combine, summarize, generate new variables and group data using dplyr package in R. You will then be introduced to R Markdown and its potential for creating reproducible parameterized reports and converting results into a variety of static or interactive formats that are easy to share and publish.

All code and exercises will be made available for webinar attendees via a designated R Studio Cloud workspace.

As a result of this webinar, participants will:

  • Learn how to perform data transformations in R
  • Learn how to navigate the dplyr package in R
  • Learn how to create reproducible parameterized reports
  • Learn how to use R Markdown
