Strengthening Data Culture: Creation of a Data Fellows Program

Inspired by AIR’s Statement of Aspirational Practice for Institutional Research, California State University San Marcos (CSUSM) launched the Data Fellows program in 2017 to enhance institutional data literacy, empower data users, and expand decision support capacity among faculty, staff, and administrators. This webinar shares how the program is structured, its role in fostering shared responsibility for student success, and how institutional research offices can lead similar initiatives to strengthen their campus’s data culture.

  • Learn about the structure and impact of the CSUSM Data Fellows program.
  • Consider strategies for building institutional capacity for data-informed decision making.
  • Identify ways IR offices can enhance campus-wide data literacy and support broader student success efforts.
