Sample surveys are an efficient mechanism for learning about a population by collecting data from a portion of that population (a sample). Depending on how the sample is selected, each case must be weighted during analysis to ensure that the sample is representative of the underlying population. In this webinar, participants will learn about weights and weighting, how the NCES sample surveys use weights, when to use weights during analysis, and which weights to use. Participants will also learn how to apply the weights appropriately depending upon analysis software and approach.
